Our Saturday classes have a variety of themes to choose from, and will be taught by the different Iyengar Yoga teachers at Harmony Yoga.

  • Saturday classes meet 9:30 – 11:00 a.m.
  • Each class is $20, or you may use your class card

February 9, 16, 23 – The Joy of Backbends
Teacher: Karen Coupland

Come explore different ways of practicing these heart-opening poses!  We’ll start each class with poses that help prepare the body for backbends, and each week focus on a different aspect of these often challenging but beneficial poses.  All levels are welcome at the first class (February 9).  The other two classes are recommended for mixed Levels 1 & 2 and above.

You do not need to attend the first class to come to either of the following classes.

March 2 – From the Ground Up: Standing Poses
Teacher: Susan Bellinson

Standing poses are elemental to the Iyengar system of practice. This class will explore correct alignment within standing poses, and how these poses help us build strength, endurance, and balance, while infusing the body with energy.

March 9 – No regular class
Come instead to one or more of Karen Allgire’s workshop classes!

March 16 and 23 – Back-bending Front Body, Front-bending Back Body
Teacher: Marly Speiser-Schneider

March 16 will focus on Forward Bends, and March 23 on Backbends. Both classes will explore the full engagements of the body with similar action of the legs and back in both classes.

March 30 – No class
Spring Break

April 6 – Twisting for a Supple Spine and a Healthy Back
Teacher: Susan Bellinson

Twists help us maintain a healthy, mobile spine and they can bring great relief when the back, neck, and shoulders are sore.  Doing yoga twists is also a good way to bring the spine into a neutral position after practicing backbends or forward bends.

April 13 – No class
Teachers will be at the National Iyengar Yoga Convention in Dallas

April 20, 27 – Topics to be determined
Teacher: Marly Speiser-Schneider
